Inaugural Bushwhack Success!

On a glorious day for a run, and as a warm-up to the Carolina/Duke game that night, five runners completed the inaugural, full non-event from the Old Well on UNC's campus to Duke Chapel in Durham. Dropkick, Snuffy, Kuhl-Aid and Grub joined Skrapple for the full monty in the first annual TarDevil 30 Mile Bushwhack.

The route was over 90% off-road on either publicly accessible, community or one-time permitted private lands, trails, woods or fire roads. Three culverts were passed through, a number of creek crossings navigated and many, many miles of pristine, runable forest were explored.

Also running to the finish were Speedo, who completed 25 miles and KB (now "Yogi) who completed 20 miles. Gumbi and Bobcat, who looked strong from the start through mile 20, unfortunately were fatally distracted by Morph's full cooler of adult beverages at that aid station and had to drop.
Additional runners who completed various distances included Gilly, Willow, Tumblr, Hodag, Icarus, Cindy and Ana.

A big shout-out for the awesome crew support by Mrs. Skrapple and the coolest finisher's medals I've seen, from Dropkick.
