We received permission from private land owners and Duke Forest (!!), and continued the TarDevil in 2023, this time starting from Duke Chapel in Durham and running to the Old Well on UNC Chapel Hill campus.
Congrats to Bongo, Tempo, Bounce and Blynk for their first-time finish today in the fifth running of the TarDevil. Way to go, you four! Especially Bongo, I want to call out who ran across the UNC grounds to the Old Well on the eve of the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Carolina. How special to share that experience with you.
Tempo, Bounce and Blynk, you all were equally amazing today with your conquering of culverts and rivers. Was so nice to share the route with you all.
Further, a total of 15 Trailheads completed the full monty and another 10-to-12 joined us at various sections.

Start time: 7:00 am (Actual: 7:07)
Estimated finish time: 2:00 pm (Actual: 2:17)
Aid stations: every five miles
Weather: There was rain on Wed, Thu, and Fri. First culvert under Mt. Sinai was impassable...partly due to a Beaver Dam that made the clearance less than a foot. But New Hope Creek was only thigh high and the other two culverts were easily passable.
Total Runners:
After the run, had lunch at New Hope Market.
