What a River!

What a day! The water was high but so were our spirits...many thanks to all who participated and crewed. A few highlights:

  • 16 of us either started or ran parts of the "route" and six finished the full monty.

  • Congrats to Turtle for earning his shirt as the newest finisher (and Thanks to Wisp for her generous time designing our shirt graphic)

  • Three culverts were conquered...each with water levels to the waist (again, I play lowest common denominator)

  • One river was crossed..New Hope Creek, with strong currents. Three dogs made it, barely.

  • ~30 miles of fun in the forest, 90% off road and a good portion spent navigating some rarely seen woods.

  • Five Aid stations including a first glance at Morph's future homestead at AS#2 and Mrs Skrapple's awesome timing at AS's #3, #4, #5. Thanks to you both and Kuhl Aid for AS#1 and for your generous support.

  • A festive chow-down at Hops followed...along with an appropriate Heels' victory to top of the night

Reminder of the objective:

Overall, I hope we brought more awareness to the long-term goal of a possible permanent all-trail-route from UNC to Duke. More on this objective later.
